Kejriwal will not be able to perform government duties if he gets bail

The Supreme Court of India has not yet given a final decision on the interim bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. However, they said, bail may be considered for participating in the party’s campaign in the Lok Sabha elections.

During the question and answer session in the Supreme Court on Tuesday (May 7), Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta made such clear indications.

Last March, Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of irregularities. He became the first sitting Chief Minister in the history of India to be arrested. The ED had summoned Kejriwal 9 times for questioning in the case related to Delhi’s excise policy. But he didn’t come. He had to be arrested on this charge.

According to the report of media NDTV, Kejriwal may get bail in the Lok Sabha elections. Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta made such indications on Tuesday.

The judges said that Kejriwal is not a criminal by nature, nor does he have a history of repeated offences. He is the elected Chief Minister. Voting is going on now. He has the right to promote it. If there was no vote, the question of bail would not have arisen.

The judges said, granting him bail may create another crisis. He can remove the allegations against him by abuse of power. So even if bail is granted, Kejriwal cannot sign any file as Chief Minister.

Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that he will not sign any government document related to excise policy. However, the judges said, the division bench said, “We do not want him to perform any kind of government duty.” We do not want any interference in government work.
