Kejriwal's plea to extend bail rejected

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for extension of interim bail has been rejected by the Supreme Court.

Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report on Wednesday (May 29).

According to reports, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal to campaign for elections after spending 50 days in jail in a corruption case. He was released on bail on May 11. The Supreme Court granted him interim bail till June 1. According to that order, Kejriwal will have to surrender on June 2.

Only a few days left for the expiry of this guarantee. However, before that, he requested to extend the bail period.

Applying for an extension of bail by another seven days, KGwal said that his weight has decreased by 7 kg and his creatinine level has increased. He needs a PET-CT scan immediately. He wants to surrender on June 9 instead of June 2.

But the Supreme Court did not give that permission to Kejriwal. The Registrar of the Supreme Court said, “The Chief Minister of Delhi has been allowed to go to the trial court for regular bail. Hence this plea is not “sustainable”.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in the Delhi Excise corruption case and was imprisoned in Tihar Jail. He was arrested before Lok Sabha polls began.
