Lok Sabha Elections: Why is fourth phase of voting important in India?

The fourth phase of the Indian Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 13. In this phase, voting will be held in 96 parliamentary seats in 10 states of the country. On this day, star candidates like Akhiles Yadav, Adhir Chowdhury, Indian actor Shatrughan Sinha, Shatabdi Roy will be decided.

The fourth phase of polls will see a fierce battle between BJP, Congress, Trinamool, Samajwadi Party and several provincial political parties. The fate of 1,717 candidates including Lok Sabha opposition leader Adhir Chowdhury, Samajwadi Party top leader Akhiles Yadav will be decided. Shatrughan Sinha and Shatabdi Roy are star candidates in this round of voting. Both were elected members of Parliament last year.

Political parties are considering this election as the most important. In this phase, 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 17 in Telangana, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra and 8 in West Bengal are also considered as ‘challenges for survival’ by the BJP-Congress-Trinamool or India alliance.

Analysts believe that the BJP is in alliance with the TDP of Andhra Pradesh or the Telangana Desam Party. Last year, the anti-BJP camp won 22 of the 25 seats in the province, with the provincial Congress party YSR.

On the other hand, BJP won only 4 seats in Telangana which has 17 seats. Analysts say that the BJP must do well from these two southern states. And all the 11 seats in Maharashtra belonged to the BJP; As a result, they have to keep it.

Out of 8 seats in West Bengal Trinamool had 6, rest one each for Congress and BJP. Political circles think that to fulfill the target of 400 seats announced by Modi, Modi needs to win 4-5 seats from Mamata’s state in this round.

However, in every state, the provincial political parties are stronger than the BJP. So there will be no clash between Congress and Gerua camp; Will be with a party like Provincial Trinamool, Samajwadi Party or YSR. They are also running a massive campaign to hold on to their seats.

It is to be noted that the polling of a total of 283 parliamentary seats has been completed in the three phases of the Lok Sabha elections. India’s seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will end after four more rounds of polling. The result will be published on June 4.
