Maldives to allow transactions in Emirati Dirham and Chinese Yuan

Male: Male: Bank of Maldives (BML) has decided to allow transaction in both the Emirati Dirham (AED) and the Chinese Yuan (Renminbi).

Speaking at BML’s Annual General Meeting on Monday night, CEO Karl Stumke stated that the bank continues to meet the needs of customers, adding as an example “the recent system configuration to facilitate both the Emirati Dirham (AED) and the Chinese Yuan (Renminbi) as currencies with which our customers can now transact.”

“We are now able to provide Renminbi accounts to our customers who would like to receive Renminbi settlements and use this for future payment obligations,” he said.

He assured that the bank remains committed to upholding the high standards of governance and customer centric approach that it takes, while also promising digitialization and modernization of its services going forward.
