Modi got less votes than last two times

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been elected as a member of the Lok Sabha from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi for the third time in a row. Election Commission of the country announced the results of the election at the end of the voting week.

The published results showed that Modi was elected in Varanasi by getting 6 lakh 12 thousand 970 votes. In this seat, his nearest rival Ajay Roy (Congress) got 460 thousand 457 votes. In other words, Modi won by a margin of only 152,000 votes.

Modi got 54.24 percent of the total votes in this constituency in Varanasi. On the other hand, his rival Ajay Roy got 40.74 percent votes.

Narendra Modi has won for the third time in a row, but his vote share has decreased significantly compared to 2014 and 2019. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he defeated his main rival Salini Jadhav of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 4 lakh 79 thousand 505 votes. Sevaber Modi got 6 lakh 74 thousand 664 votes. On the other hand, his rival Salini got only 1 lakh 95 thousand 159 votes.

In 2019, Modi got 63.62 percent of the total votes. There it has come down to 54.24 percent this year. On the other hand in 2014 Modi got 5 lakh 81 thousand 22 votes. Which was about 56 percent of the total votes. At that time his closest rival Arvind Kejriwal got 29,238 votes. In the 2014 elections, Modi defeated Kejriwal by a margin of nearly 4 lakh votes.
