Modi is one of the nicest people I have ever met: Trump

In front of the upcoming US presidential election, former President Donald Trump has expressed his opinion on world leaders in a flagrant podcast. In that discussion, when the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi came up, Trump was full of praise for Modi. He said that Modi is one of the best people he has ever met.

Referring to Modi as his friend, Trump said, ‘Modi is my friend and one of the nicest people I have ever met. India was quite unstable before Modi became Prime Minister. Although outwardly paternal, he is a strong and determined leader.

Talking about Modi, Trump recalled the iconic ‘Howdy Modi’ event held in Texas in 2019. Modi addressed a large gathering of Indian-Americans at the event.

About which Trump said, ‘They held an event called Howdy, Modi in Houston, Texas. Where he and I were. Which was, in a word, great. The event had a gathering of around 80,000 people, which was quite exciting. We discussed it. Today, I may not be able to do much.’

At that time, Trump said that he had a discussion with Modi about India-Pakistan tension. Without naming Pakistan directly, Trump said, “Someone was threatening India on several occasions. I told Modi, let me help because I am very good at this. To which he (Modi) aggressively said, ‘I will handle it. Because we defeated them for hundreds of years. I said, ‘Oh, what happened there.’

It is to be noted that Trump came to India at the invitation of Modi during his presidency. At that time, the Modi government organized an event called ‘Namaste Trump’ in Ahmedabad. Where more than 1 target people participated. It is the largest gathering of a US president outside the country.
