Modi requests Putin to end Ukraine war

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong appeal to end the war in Ukraine during his two-day official visit to Russia. In an informal meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Modi told him bluntly that no solution can be found on the battlefield.

In a report on Tuesday, the news media NDTV has given such information.

At this time, Modi also said that India has always respected UN Charters including territorial integrity and sovereignty. India feels that there is no solution on the battlefield. Dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward.

Modi also expressed concern about Indian citizens joining the Russian army through fraud. However, sources confirmed that Russia has promised to return all affected people.

Many Indians are believed to have been forced to fight in Ukraine after being tricked by agents with promises of high-paying jobs.

This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Russia since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and his return to power for a record third term last month.

Putin congratulated Modi for being elected for the third term. He said that by being re-elected as Prime Minister, he has proved that he has played an effective role in advancing the interests of India.

Earlier, Putin welcomed Narendra Modi in Moscow. Greeted him as his ‘dear friend’.

On Monday, Modi traveled to Moscow at the invitation of Putin to attend the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. The Prime Minister of India will stay there on July 8 and 9.

A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi on Thursday said that during the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin will hold wide-ranging discussions on multi-faceted relations between India and Russia. Besides, the two leaders will also exchange views on contemporary regional and global issues of mutual interest.
