Muijju is in danger as the Indian army chases away

The President of Maldives, Mohammad Muijju, is in great danger after driving out the Indian army. The country has aircraft provided by India. But there is no pilot to operate it. They were operated by the Indian Army. Defense Minister of Maldives Ghassan Maumoon said this himself.

Also, due to the withdrawal of the Indian army, the country has also faced a tourism crisis. Because the Indian government called for a boycott of Maldives to respond to the decision to move Muijju’s army. Due to which the number of Indian tourists visiting Maldives has also halved. As a result, the country has collapsed economically.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has already warned about the debt crisis of the Maldives. However, the IMF believes that the Maldives, which is suffering from financial crisis, is ready to receive assistance from China. The news agency AFP reported this information on Monday.

Muijju announced the withdrawal of Indian troops on the day he was sworn in as president. After several disputes with India, Maldives has continuously pressed for the withdrawal of troops. In the end, India withdrew 76 soldiers. And a few days after the withdrawal of these troops, the tone of the Maldives is soft.

Maumoon said that the Maldivian Army does not have pilots to fly the three aircraft given to India.

In a press conference on the withdrawal of Indian troops from Maldives on Saturday, he said, “Maldives army does not have any skilled pilots to fly the two helicopters and Dornier aircraft provided by India.” Although the soldiers are trained, due to its multiple stages, they are still not fully trained due to various reasons. There is no one in the army who has a license to fly these aircraft and helicopters.

Incidentally, since the pro-Chinese President Muizhu came to power, relations with India have been deteriorating. He fixed the time to withdraw all Indian troops from the island nation by May 10 this year. Soon after, India withdrew 76 Indian troops from Maldives before the deadline. Due to which the Indian government became active in boycotting Maldives.

As a result, the number of Indian tourists decreased. In this, the financial problems of the country, which is in economic crisis, became more evident. Maldives is at high risk of an external and overall debt crisis, the IMF said. The organization said that this happened because of the collapse in the tourism industry. Because one of the sources of the country’s economy is the tourism sector of that country.

According to official IMF data, Maldives’ external debt reached 438 billion dollars last year. That is about 118 percent of the gross domestic product and about $250 million more than in 2022.
