Murder of Bangladeshi MP Annar: Siam in the net of law and order forces in Nepal

Member of Parliament (MP) of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency of Bangladesh. Siam, the absconding accused of Anwarul Azim Annar’s murder, is under the surveillance of law enforcement agencies in Nepal.

A notice for his arrest was issued by Interpol. In view of this, he is kept under surveillance in Nepal. Officials related to the investigation said that he will be arrested at any time.

It is known that the responsibility of the murders flow in different sectors was the arrested Tanveer Bhuiyan and the absconding accused Siam in Nepal. For this reason, Shimul Bhuiyan alias Amanullah, the main coordinator of the murder, gave the two two types of work. The role of the other arrested accused, Selisti Rahman, is still a mystery. Because Selisti is the girlfriend of Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, the mastermind of the murder.

On 30 April he went to Calcutta with Shaheen and Amanullah. After making all the arrangements for the killing mission, Shaheen came to Dhaka on May 10. But Celeste stayed with Amanullah in Sanjiba Bhavan. DB does not believe the statement that Celesti gives to DB about why she stayed in Calcutta without returning to Dhaka with Shaheen. Sources related to the investigation have given this information.

According to sources, Tanveer’s duty was to call various people in the country after the murder. In this case, those who had a dispute with MP Anar are asked to give precedence. According to that, after the incident, Tanvir called Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, Jhenaidah-3 Constituency MP Shafiqul Azam Khan Chanchal and businessman Zaman from India.

But, coincidentally, none of those who were called could pick up the phone. DB officials believe that they could not pick up the calls because they called early in the morning. The DB said that those who were called were instructed to put down the phone by briefly saying a couple of words in sign language when they picked up the phone.

According to sources, Siam was responsible for diverting the incident – after the murder, MP’s mobile phones were taken to different places away from Kolkata. Accordingly, after the Siam incident on May 13, he took MP’s mobile phones to various places including Bihar, Delhi, and Benapole. He sent SMS to people close to the MP from all those places.

The SMS from MP’s mobile indicated that he (MP) was on a movement in India with VIPs. And law enforcement forces also give importance to those places for investigation. It was basically a tactic to confuse members of the law enforcement agencies.

Sources also said that Siam’s main responsibility was outside. He was not even taken to the spot Sanjeeva Gardens. He was an accomplice of Zahid alias Jihad in disposing of the MP’s fragmented bones after the murder. Later, fearing to be caught, he left for Nepal. On the other hand, another accused, Selisti Rahman, who is on remand, was asked by the DB – ‘You are Shaheen’s girlfriend. Why did you stay in Calcutta even after Shaheen moved to the country? Later you came to the country with Amanullah, the main coordinator of the murder. From this it seems that you are involved in this murder. In response, denying his involvement in the murder, he said, “I stayed for shopping.” The DB officials are not satisfied with this statement of Selisti. Because Shaheen was in Kolkata for at least 10 days before returning home. He was with Shaheen all that time. Shopping needs more time after those 10 days—it just doesn’t seem natural.

MP Annar went to India on May 12. He stayed at the house of his friend Gopal Biswas in Mandalpara near Barrackpore, Kolkata. On May 13, Annar left home after talking about treatment. Later, MP Annar was tragically murdered in a flat in Sanjiba Garden, Newtown area near Dumdum Airport, Kolkata. The house was rented by the killers for 11 months. The incident of MP murder came to light on May 22. On the same day, Anar’s daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen (24) filed a kidnapping case against the unknown accused at Sherbangla Nagar police station in the capital. Besides, there is a case of murder in India. The investigation is going on in both the countries. Already, Kolkata policemen have come to Dhaka and interrogated the arrested accused in Bangladesh. A team of Bangladeshi DB also visited Kolkata to interrogate the arrested Jihad and held several meetings with members of the law enforcement agencies. Besides, raids were conducted at different places to recover the fragmented parts of MP’s body. On the information given by DB, Kolkata CID raided the septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens and recovered some pieces of meat.

The eight-day remand of the three arrested accused in DB custody ended on Thursday. They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The remanded accused will give a confessional statement in the court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, but the concerned officials do not believe until the confession is made. Because Shimul Bhuiyan alias Amanullah and Tanveer Bhuiyan are professional criminals among the accused. So detectives fear that they may not give a statement in court. If their fears are true, DB will take alternative measures. In this case, an application to remand the accused may be made to the court.

Meanwhile, DB Additional Commissioner Harun Or Rashid initially believes that the piece of meat found in the septic tank of Sanjiba Garden in Kolkata belongs to MP Anwarul Azim Anar. Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) told reporters at the International Airport on Thursday afternoon after returning from Kolkata, India to investigate the murder, that it would have been difficult to solve the case if MP Anar’s body or remains were not found. Initially, it appears that the pieces of flesh recovered belong to the victim. Because someone else’s flesh would flash there like this? A forensic report can be confirmed. However, he said, we got all the information we needed by going to Kolkata. We have returned with success. The motive of the murder is still not clear, the intelligence officer said, noting that the investigation is going on keeping in mind the business conflict, dominance of the area, political conflict. He said that someone heard a flush in the flat. From that information we found the body parts by applying water theory. That was our main challenge. He also said that one of the accused in this case is in the United States and another is in Nepal. Efforts are underway to return them. Spoke to Interpol for Shaheen and Nepal administration for Siam. I have also asked Kolkata police to take initiative to return Shaheen.

Haroon Or Rashid said that if the victim’s body or parts of the body are not found in the case, the investigating officer should be asked to provide the body, viscera and medical report. We went to Kolkata and crosschecked the information of the accused arrested in our hands. Besides, I verified the information of the accused arrested in Kolkata. We visited the spot along with Calcutta CID. Tried to match the information available from the accused. We have brought the investigation of Anna’s murder to the final stage by collecting evidence and surrounding digital data.

On May 26, a three-member team headed by DMP DB went to Kolkata to unravel the mystery of MP Anna’s murder. After five days they returned home. The other two members of the investigation committee are Wari Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Abdul Ahad and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shahidur Rahman. Meanwhile, MP’s family members are trying to go to Kolkata for several days for DNA test. However, due to visa complications, they could not go there till Thursday, said the personal assistant of the deceased MP, Abdur Rauf.
