Murder of Bangladeshi MP Azim: The information given to Indian officials by the arrested

Four investigators from India spoke to the three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Bangladeshi parliamentarian Anwarul Azim Anna. On Thursday night, they spoke to the suspect and DB officers for about 3 hours in the ward room of the Bailey Road detective office.

Earlier, the Indian officials came to the DB office around 6:30 pm. At around 9:30 PM, they left the Wari Division room and went to the office of DMP DB Chief Harun Or Rashid.

Later, Additional Commissioner Haroon Or Rashid said, “The same description of the incident that the suspects in DB custody gave to the DB has also been given to the investigating officers in India.

“And based on the information given by him about a suspect who was arrested in India, the police of that country are trying to recover the body or body parts of MP Anwarul Azim Anar in different places.”

However, Indian officials did not speak to the media in Dhaka. They came to Bangladesh on Thursday.

The three in DB custody in connection with Anna’s murder are Amanullah alias Shimul Bhuiyan, Shilasti Rahman and Faisal Ali alias Saji. Bangladesh police arrested them after receiving information from Indian police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police held a press conference on Thursday afternoon and said that the mastermind behind Anna’s murder is American citizen Akhtaruzzaman alias Shaheen Mia. And the murder was carried out by extremist leader Amanullah alias Shimul.

A few months before the murder in Calcutta, India, the plan of murder was drawn up in the house of Gulshan and Bashundhara in Dhaka. Intelligence officer Haroon Or Rasheed said that after the killing of the MP, various parts of the body were chopped and sprinkled with turmeric, due to which it was difficult to recover the body.

However, the police officer did not say anything clear about why Anna was killed.

Three-time Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency, Annar is the President of Kaliganj Upazila Awami League. On May 11, he went to India for treatment. First, he stayed at the house of his friend gold merchant Gopal Biswas in Barahnagar, Kolkata. But disappeared from there.

After that, Gopal Biswas filed a GD at the local police station. Investigations began in both countries. On Wednesday morning, Indian media reported that MP Annar was murdered in a house in New Town.

Anar’s daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed a case at the Sherbangla Nagar police station in the capital on Wednesday evening, accusing her father of ‘kidnapping with intent to murder’. However, no one has been named as an accused.

Detective Police officer Harun said that the three suspects arrested in this case will be handed over to the court on Friday and remanded.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “Almost everything has been identified” in response to questions from reporters at the secretariat on Thursday afternoon. I’m almost close to identifying who did the killing. Now all that is left is the announcement.”

“We are still investigating,” said the Home Minister, saying that the announcement would be made if the intelligence agencies of the two countries could agree. An Indian team will come here (Bangladesh) for investigation. If necessary, a team of ours will also go there (India).”
