Another 14 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours due to landslides, floods and lightning in Nepal due to heavy rains. Out of which only 8 people died due to landslides. Apart from this, 5 people lost their lives due to lightning and one person died due to flood. Besides, many people were injured.
The Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal has expressed grief over this incident on Thursday. After these natural disasters, the country’s disaster management agency NDRMA has started working to rescue the injured.
Usually in the first or second week of June, Nepal receives heavy rains. Monsoon has officially arrived in the Himalayan country on June 13 this year. Since then natural calamities have caused accidents in different parts of the country. Deaths from floods, landslides and lightning continue to occur. However, the highest number of deaths occurred in the country on Wednesday.
In the last 17 days, at least 13 people have been killed by lightning and 14 people have died in landslides. 33 districts of the country have been affected by heavy rains. Extensive damage has been done in several places.
147 accidents due to landslides, floods and lightning have been reported across Nepal this monsoon. Monsoon is generally active in the country from mid-June to mid-September. Every year during this period there is a lot of damage in the country. It continues this time too.
It is reported that three houses were completely wiped out by landslides in Lamjung district, about 125 kilometers west of the capital Kathmandu. Deputy Commissioner Buddha Bahadur Gurung said that four people including two children were killed.
According to a statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal, 44 accidents of landslides and floods occurred on June 26. It killed 14 people, two of whom have yet to be identified. Apart from this, 10 people were injured in the landslide. So far this monsoon has seen the highest number of deaths.
