Congratulations to Dr. Yunus, India is committed to working with Bangladesh: Modi

Out of 173 speeches of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 110 were anti-Muslim. The Wire and The Hindu published the information on Wednesday citing Human Rights Watch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made 173 campaign speeches since the code of conduct came into effect in March ahead of this year’s Lok Sabha elections in India. 110 of them contained Islamophobic comments.

According to a report by the US-based international human rights organization Human Rights Watch, Modi recently said that he hopes for the safety and security of Hindus and all other minority communities on the soil of Bangladesh. But Human Rights Watch claims Modi’s election campaign earlier this year often used hate speech against Muslims and other minorities in India.

Prime Minister Modi spoke about the security of minorities in Bangladesh following reports of attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5. Modi’s campaign speeches during the 2024 general elections were heavily criticized.

In a meeting in Rajasthan, he said that the Congress had said that the rights of Muslims over the country’s resources came first. The wealth of the country will be distributed among those who have more children in their families. It is said in the Congress manifesto that the wealth of mothers and sisters will be distributed as gold jewellery. Manmohan Singh’s government has said that Muslims have the right to the wealth of the country. Your mangalsutra will not be left out. It does not end here. Also, the Prime Minister is heard to make such comments in various public meetings.

Human Rights Watch has also documented the Election Commission’s failure to take appropriate action against Modi, along with his critical remarks. The Election Commission wrote to BJP All India President JP Nadda asking him and all his party’s star campaigners to refrain from making communal speeches, but did not bar Modi.

Human Rights Watch says Modi continued to make inflammatory speeches throughout the campaign. Elaine Pearson, the organization’s Asia director, said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders had blatantly misrepresented Muslims and other minority communities in their campaigns.
