Pakistan also has nuclear bomb: Farooq Abdullah

Neighboring Pakistan and India have been fighting for decades over Kashmir, known as ‘Bhuswarga’. However, in recent times, the tension has increased due to the controversial comments of the ruling party of India as well as the ministers of the country.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh recently made a controversial comment that Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir will be merged with India. And in response to this, Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, made a very harsh comment. He said, Pakistan is not sitting with bangles in hand and they also have nuclear bomb.
NDTV reported this information in a report on Monday (May 6).

Reacting to Indian Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks that ‘Azad Kashmir will be merged with India,’ former Chief Minister and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said Pakistan is not sitting on bangles and they also have nuclear bombs which are on us. will read

He said, “If the Defense Minister says so (to merge Azad Kashmir with India), then go ahead and occupy it.” Who are we to stop? But remember, they (Pakistan) are not wearing bangles either. They have a nuclear bomb and unfortunately, that nuclear bomb will fall on us.’

Earlier last April, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said that considering the developments in India, the people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) themselves would demand to stay with India.

While addressing a rally in West Bengal’s Darjeeling at that time, Rajnath Singh said in his controversial comment, ‘Don’t worry. Azad Kashmir (PoK) was, is and will be ours. India’s power is growing. India’s prestige is growing all over the world and our economy is growing rapidly. Now our brothers and sisters in Kashmir (PoK) themselves will demand to come with India.”

Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on Sunday that Pakistan-administered Kashmir is part of India and there is a resolution of the Indian Parliament, which says that PoK is part of the country (India).

He claimed that people were made to forget about Azad Kashmir, but now it is back in the consciousness of the people of India.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar responded when asked about India’s plans for Pakistan-administered Kashmir at an event in Cuttack.

He claimed, ‘Pakistan-administered Kashmir was never outside this country (India). It is part of this country. The Indian Parliament has a resolution that Pakistan-administered Kashmir is very much a part of India. Now, how others took control of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, when you have someone who is not responsible for home security, someone from outside steals. Here you have given opportunity to other countries to come.

It should be noted that Pakistan and India, the two nuclear powers of South Asia, claim the whole of disputed Kashmir, but both rule parts of it. They fought against each other in two of the three wars over this Himalayan region.

There have been several wars between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. Both have now become nuclear powers, but history tells us that the dispute over Kashmir began before Pakistan and India gained independence in August 1947.

In October 1947, the then Hindu Maharaja of Kashmir, Hari Singh, signed an agreement to accede to India in the face of an attack by Pakistani Pashtun tribal forces, and received Indian military assistance. Eventually, the India-Pakistan war started in 1947.

This war between the two countries lasted for almost two years. A cease-fire came into force in Kashmir in 1948, but Pakistan refused to withdraw its troops. Since then, Kashmir has been effectively divided into two parts controlled by Pakistan and India.

Besides, through the Sino-Indian War of 1962, China established control over the Aksai-Chin part of Kashmir. And the following year, Pakistan handed over the Trans-Karakoram region of Kashmir to China.

Since then, control of Kashmir has been divided between three countries – Pakistan, India and China.

On the other hand, on August 5, 2019, India canceled Article 370 of the special status given to Kashmir in the Indian Constitution during the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. At that time, the state of Jammu and Kashmir was completely abolished and converted into two separate Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir.
