Pakistan is getting its first female competitor in the history of Olympics

This year’s Olympic season is going to start in Paris from July 26. Pakistan’s Kishmala Talat will achieve a rare feat if he gets his hands on an air gun. This 21-year-old shooter is going to participate in the Olympics as the country’s first female competitor.

In shooting, Talat will participate in the women’s 10m and 25m air pistol events. Women’s participation in sports in Pakistan is very limited. Due to the strictness of women’s clothing in the country, there are fewer opportunities for girls to participate in sports. And from that place, Talat made his name in world events like Olympics.

Talat was born into a military family in the eastern Pakistani city of Jhelum. He graduated in communication from a university in the country.

Talat told the news agency AFFI, “There is a general ban in Pakistan that girls have to stay at home. Feminine work must be done. While boys play with guns, girls are forced to play with dolls’.

Pakistan has won only 10 Olympic medals so far. All of which were won by male athletes. Pakistan has not won a medal since the 1992 Olympics.

Talat also said, ‘I don’t see anyone as a competitor. I compete with myself.’

According to the International Sports Shooting Federation, Talat is ranked 37th in the world ranking in 10m pistol shooting. And Talat placed 41st in the 25m event.
