Md Lotfar Rahman Azad, Senior Reporter:
Pakistan has attacked the border areas of Afghanistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country gave this information in a statement on Monday. News The Express Tribune.
The Foreign Ministry called the attack an ‘intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation’ in the border region of Afghanistan. However, Pakistan’s statement did not mention the nature of the operation or the airstrikes.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban government of sponsoring the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliates. The country claims that the TTP and its affiliates use Afghanistan’s territory to carry out their terrorist activities. And in the context of this complaint, Pakistan has carried out this attack.
The statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office said, “This operation was carried out targeting the terrorists of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, an affiliate of the TTP, responsible for several terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.” ‘
In a statement, the Foreign Office referred to the group’s attack on a security post in Pakistan’s North Waziristan’s Mir Ali on March 16 this year. A total of seven Pakistani soldiers including two officers were killed in this latest attack.
And this is why Pakistan has been forced to take such extreme measures, they said.
On the other hand, the Taliban government has also confirmed the attack in Afghanistan. They condemned Pakistan’s attack as a ‘violation of the country’s sovereignty’.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said five women and three children were killed in the attack in Afghanistan’s eastern border provinces of Khost and Paktika.
In a statement, Mujahid said, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan does not allow anyone to compromise security by using Afghan territory.” ‘
Earlier in April 2022, Pakistan carried out airstrikes inside Afghanistan.
Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported in a report that Pakistan’s attack inside Afghanistan has created new tensions between the two neighboring countries.
