Pakistan's February election was the biggest robbery: Imran

Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan says February’s national elections were stolen from his party. This election has been the biggest robbery in the field of public opinion. He made such comments on Thursday (May 30).

Imran Khan said these things while addressing the country’s Supreme Court through a video link from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Thursday. He alleged that he was kept in a solitary cell in the prison.

This was Imran Khan’s first comment in open court after his imprisonment last August.

Imran said, my party is suffering. Human rights violations are happening there. He also commented that the February 8 election is the biggest robbery of the people’s mandate.

Earlier also he has accused of rigging the election. However, the Election Commission has always denied this complaint.

Imran Khan (71) was once a popular cricketer turned politician. He is currently in jail on charges of corruption. Also several other cases are hanging on his neck.

However, he and his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have claimed that all charges against him are politically motivated and brought to prevent him from returning to power.

Independent candidates from Imran Khan’s party won the most seats in the February election but did not have the majority needed to form a government. His opponent, Shehbaz Sharif, became the prime minister in alliance with several parties.

The court allowed Imran Khan to appear online on Thursday. He presented the arguments in his case against the reform of Pakistan’s anti-corruption laws.

He lost a parliamentary confidence vote in 2022. Since then, he has faced numerous cases, which Imran has always alleged that the army is behind. But the army denied his allegation.
