Pakistan's Prime Minister is ashamed of the development of Bangladesh

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised Bangladesh’s economic progress. At the same time, he said, looking at the economic growth of Bangladesh, they are now ashamed.

A Dawn report said this on Thursday.

The Pakistan-based media reported that Shahbaz Sharif spoke about Bangladesh in an exchange meeting with business representatives at the residence of Sindh Chief Minister in Karachi the previous day.

Regarding the developing economy of Bangladesh, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recalled the then ‘East Pakistan’. He said that at that time ‘East Pakistan’ was considered a burden to the country. But they have made amazing strides in the growth of industrialization.

“I was very young when…we were told that it was a burden on our shoulders,” Shahbaz Sharif said at the exchange meeting. Today you all know where that burden has reached (in terms of economic growth). And now when we look at them, we feel ashamed.’

Bangladesh, which became independent in 1971 through a bloody struggle of 9 months, is now ahead of Pakistan in almost all indicators of the socio-economic sector.

According to the Dawn report, Shahbaz’s speech was followed by a question and answer session at the exchange meeting. There, the businessmen praised the recent steps of the Shahbaz-led government and made several demands. Businessmen also suggested adopting several economic policies to achieve the expected results. They urged the Prime Minister to develop trade relations with India. They also requested reconciliation with jailed Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan for political stability in Pakistan.
