PML-N alliance rejects Imran’s apology
Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has agreed to issue a conditional apology to Pakistan’s powerful army for the May 9 violence across the country. However, PML-N alliance leader and Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari rejected such aspiration of Imran.
Speaking to reporters at a makeshift court inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Wednesday (August 8), Imran offered a conditional apology to the army.
Imran said he would apologize if PTI leaders were involved in the riots that broke out across the country after his arrest. At the same time said that all those activists will be dismissed.
PML-N leader Azma Bukhari dismissed Imran’s statement. According to Azma, Imran was the mastermind behind the May 9 violence. There is credible evidence of his involvement in riots across the country.
The PML-N leader said, ‘The man who claimed that he would not surrender, is now pleading for mercy. Even if Imran Khan tries to erase his name, he will not be able to erase the black marks of his misdeeds.
Bukhari also said that on the day Imran Khan was arrested, his aides called people to take to the streets. The day after his arrest, Imran Khan himself admitted that the public reacted to his arrest.
In April 2022, Imran Khan was ousted by a vote of no confidence in Parliament. He made strong accusations against the army at various times as the reason behind the fall of the government.
After the ouster of the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, a coalition government was formed under the leadership of PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif. Then PML-N alliance came back to power in the national elections in February this year.
