Priyanka Gandhi will not contest the Lok Sabha elections. Sources have reported that. Amid speculations, it is known that the Gandhi brothers will keep their distance from the high-profile Amethi and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituencies.

According to Congress sources, Priyanka Gandhi will only campaign for the party in the Lok Sabha this year. Besides, it will be known within the next 24 hours whether Rahul Gandhi is interested in contesting from any center other than Wenar.

Meanwhile, Mallikarjun Kharge was proposed to field Rahul and Priyanka from Amethi and Rae Bareli in the Congress Central Election Committee meeting. The Congress President of Uttar Pradesh strongly advocated for this proposal. He said that the people of Amethi and Rae Bareli want Rahul and Priyanka very much.

Polling in Amethi and Rae Bareli in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 20. Amethi’s Congress candidate Rahul Gandhi was defeated by Union Minister Smriti Irani in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Rahul was the MP from this center from 2004 to 2014. In the last election, the Congress got a shock by breaking that trend. On April 26, the polling took place in Wayanad, Kerala. Rahul Gandhi is in the race to be elected MP from that center for the second time.

Meanwhile, former Lok Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi has left the Rae Bareli seat to join the Rajya Sabha. Since 2004, he is the MP of this center. Due to physical ailments, he decided not to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

On April 27, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was directly questioned about the announcement of the names of candidates for Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies. He said that the names of the candidates for these two centers will be announced in due course. But it will have to wait for some more time.
