Protests across India: Ban on gatherings over RG Kor

Protests continue across the country against the rape and murder of a female doctor at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Doctors are on strike in various hospitals to protest this incident. To deal with the situation, the Kolkata Police has issued a ban on illegal gatherings in the area adjacent to RG Kar Medical College. According to the report, the police have issued these guidelines in accordance with Section 163 of the country’s Civil Protection Code (formerly Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code). The area around the RG tax has also been specified.

The ban has been imposed on some roads in Shyampukur, Ultodanga and Tala Thana areas. These include Belgachia Road, JK Mitra Road Crossing and Shyambazar Panch Mathar Junction. RG Kar Hospital was attacked during the women’s night occupation march on Wednesday night. The riot went to the emergency department. Police security has come under question in that incident. Even after that, meetings and marches were held in the area adjacent to RG Kar. Quoting the Kolkata Police, the report said, this step is to prevent a repeat of Wednesday night’s incident.

Incidentally, protests have spread across India surrounding the rape and murder of a doctor at the 138-year-old RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal, India. Citizens of the country announced to protest on the streets on the night of India’s Independence Day on Wednesday, with the aim of abolishing the repressive measures from the country in protest of this murder. Protesters announced to hold this protest program called ‘Girls Occupy Night’ across India. Demonstrations have already started in various provinces of India in support of this movement.
