The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a rally demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

The program was held in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday (July 27). Meanwhile, other political prisoners were also demanded to be released.

The PTI leaders quickly demanded the release of Imran and his wife from the rally, saying that the cases filed against them are false.

Local PTI legislators and leaders addressed the protest held at the provincial council level.

It is known that the protest was held in three provincial areas in Peshawar. Among them, a protest rally was held in Namak Mandi area under the leadership of provincial higher education minister Meena Khan Afridi.

He said it is illegal to imprison Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other leaders.

Afridi said that the central government’s failure to maintain law and order has created widespread lawlessness. The people voted for the PTI in the general elections last February, but the PML-N and its allies rigged the election results and seized power illegally.

Speakers at the rally condemned the central government’s heavy taxation.

They said the government is taking anti-people policies and is not doing anything for the welfare of the people. They called for the release of political leaders and the establishment of constitution and rule of law in the country.
