Rahul Gandhi is running from his mother's seat

Lok Sabha elections are going on in India. The first two rounds of polling have already been completed. Congress has announced candidates in two important constituencies of Uttar Pradesh – Amethi and Rae Bareli within 24 hours, as promised in the ongoing Damadol election.

This time, leaving Amethi, the former president of the Indian National Congress and one of the top leaders of the party, Rahul Gandhi, is a candidate from Rae Bareli. It is the seat of his mother Sonia Gandhi. Sonia won from this seat in 2019. However, Priyanka Gandhi did not stand for the vote.

NDTV reported this information in a separate report on Friday (May 3).

In 2019, Rahul lost to BJP’s Smriti Irani in Amethi. This time Kishorelal Sharma, a close friend of the Gandhi family, has been nominated from Amethi. On May 20, the fifth phase of voting will be held in Amethi and Rae Bareli. Friday is the last day for nomination of candidates for these two centres. So Rahul and Kishorelal have to submit their nominations on the same day as candidates. Meanwhile, BJP’s Smriti Irani has also become a candidate from Amethi. He has already submitted his nomination. And in Rae Bareli BJP has fielded Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh.

Rae Bareli is the only seat in Uttar Pradesh where the Congress won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Sonia Gandhi won there, but this time, due to age and physical illness, Sonia did not contest the Lok Sabha polls. He is now a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Bridges Pathak has claimed that the Congress candidates are going to win with huge votes after the announcement of Amethi and Rae Bareli. He said BJP is going to win huge votes in Amethi and Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi first left Amethi and went to Wanad now he has come to Rae Bareli. The people of Rae Bareli will never accept him. BJP is going to win all 80 seats in the state with huge majority.
