Rahul Gandhi's 'Hindu' comments in Lok Sabha

India’s Lok Sabha got into an uproar on Monday due to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Hindu’ comment. On this day, Rahul spoke for the first time as the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha on the opening speech of the President. Addressing the MPs, he said that those who call themselves Hindus only speak of violence, hatred and lies. After that, the uproar started from the treasury bench.

BJP MPs demanded that Rahul should apologize for this. Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that an apology should be made. Even in the middle of Rahul’s speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood up from his seat and said that it is very dangerous to call the entire Hindu community as violent.

According to the Indian Express report, Rahul Gandhi participated in the Lok Sabha session and strongly attacked the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government on various issues. Among these, the country’s national medical admission test question paper leak, armed forces’ Agnivir project, various issues related to agriculture are notable.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress…Abhayamudra is a symbol of fearlessness, it is a symbol of assurance and security, which dispels fear and provides divine protection and assurance to Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions. At this time, Rahul Gandhi spoke holding a picture of Hindu god Shiva.

Rahul also raised the issue of Ram Mandir while attacking BJP. He said, I asked SP MP from Faizabad when did you realize that you are winning the election. He said he knew from the beginning that he would win. Because, BJP has demolished people’s houses in the name of Ram Mandir. They were not compensated. In the name of the temple, the Hindus there were persecuted. He alleged that Ram Janmabhoomi became an airport by evicting the poor.

After this, Rahul said, this country is a country of non-violence. This country is not a country to fear. All our great men spoke of non-violence. Said to remove fear. Fear no one, fear no one. And the people who call themselves Hindus, they only do violence, spread hatred, speak lies 24 hours a day. You are not Hindu. It is clearly written in Hinduism that one should follow the path of truth. Do not deviate from the truth. Don’t be afraid of the truth. Non-violence is our symbol.

After Rahul’s words, commotion started in the Lok Sabha. Asking Rahul to apologize for this, Amit Shah said, he (Rahul) does not know that billions of people proudly call themselves Hindus. Associating violence with any religion is wrong. He should apologize. While attacking Rahul, Shah raised the issue of Emergency and anti-Sikh violence during Congress.
