'Red Alert' in 9 states of India including Tripura

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in various states of India due to the threat of heavy to very heavy rains. Tripura is also in this list. Recent record rainfall in this bordering Indian state has worsened the flood situation in neighboring Bangladesh following the opening of dams.

According to the report of the Indian media outlet Outlook India on Sunday, the IMD has issued a red alert due to the fear of heavy to very heavy rains in various states of India. In particular, heavy rainfall is expected in the western and central parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

The states where the IMD has issued red alert include- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Besides, Orange Alert has been issued in Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

The IMD has maintained a red alert in South Tripura district and an orange alert in Dhalai and Gomti districts due to the threat of more rain in Tripura.
