Section 420 has been replaced by the new 'Nyaya Sanhita' Act in India

Three laws have been repealed since the British rule in India. One of these is section 420 for cheating and fraud. Article 420 was repealed. After 164 years, this clause no longer exists.

The new ‘Nyaya Sanhita’ Act came into effect from Monday (July 1) after the repeal. It is a modification of the old British Penal Code section ‘420’.

The Indian Penal Code was replaced by the Indian Penal Code in 1860.

The old British-era Penal Code section ‘420’ was filed for cheating. Now it has been changed and inserted in new section 318(4).

However, on the first day of its implementation, a section of lawyers in India came out against it. Lawyers observe ‘Kala Diwas’ on this day in every court of Birbhum like different courts of the state.

In some places they went on strike wearing black badges, in some places lawyers joined the protest against this method in the court premises.

However, the new law is still unclear as to what the crime and its punishment are. The opposition parties have also raised several objections against the new three laws. Meanwhile, the first FIR under the new criminal law was filed in Kolkata.
