Sheikh Hasina is not dead, we have not gone anywhere: Joy
He also commented that democracy-election is not possible in Bangladesh without Awami League.
Former Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed Joy said, ‘Sheikh Hasina has not died, we have not gone anywhere.’
He made this comment in a video message on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday night.
Joy said, ‘There is a chaotic situation in Bangladesh now. Vandalism and looting are happening all over the country. Our Awami League leaders and activists are being attacked. Many have been killed.’
Referring to ‘Awami League as the oldest, democratic and largest party in Bangladesh’, he said, ‘Awami League is not dead. Awami League made Bangladesh independent, it is not possible to end Awami League. We said my family will not do politics anymore. But the way our activists are being attacked, we cannot give up in this situation.’
‘If democracy in Bangladesh…new Bangladesh is to be built, it is not possible without Awami League. Awami League is the biggest party. Awami League will not go anywhere, Awami League will not end, it is not possible to end Awami League,’ he added.
He said to the leaders and activists of Awami League, ‘You stand with courage. You are not alone, we are. Bangabandhu’s family did not go anywhere. We are ready to do whatever is necessary to protect the country, our leaders and workers, Awami League.
Sajib Wazed Joy said, ‘I will tell those who are in power today that we also want a democratic, safe, orderly, militancy-free Bangladesh. That is why we are ready to negotiate with everyone, only if they give up militancy and terrorism.
He said, ‘Sheikh Hasina has not died, we have not gone anywhere. Democracy and elections are not possible without Awami League in Bangladesh.
