Sheikh Hasina will become illegal in India after 25 days

Awami League president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina left the country and fled to India after resigning on August 5 due to the popular uprising of students. He has already spent three weeks in the country.

On the other hand, the interim government of Bangladesh canceled the red passports of all the diplomats of her government including Sheikh Hasina.

According to India’s visa policy, Bangladeshis holding diplomatic red passports can enter India without a visa and stay for a maximum of 45 days. Sheikh Hasina has spent 20 days in India till Saturday.

As such, Sheikh Hasina can stay in India legally for only 25 days. After that, the former prime minister will become invalid. News from Hindustan Times.

According to the media report, Sheikh Hasina had only a red passport when she fled the country. There was no ordinary green passport. In that case, the cancellation of the diplomatic passport has increased the risk of extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India to Bangladesh.

More than half a hundred cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina so far. Out of which 42 murder cases. In these cases, the trial will begin against the former prime minister.

It is known that Sheikh Hasina’s extradition will be included in the extradition agreement between Bangladesh and India in 2013. However, the agreement was last revised in 2016.

It is said that the accused person can be denied extradition or return if he is accused of a case made for political considerations. But the agreement expressly excludes the issue of assassination cases from political consideration.

Also, two countries can refuse to extradite the accused even if the case is “made with the intention of not doing justice”.
