Taslima Nasreen was born in Bangladesh. A fatwa was issued against her in 1993. At that time, she left her country due to fear of radical Islamists. Since then, she has been living in India for 30 years with a residence permit. However, she did not get citizenship.

It has become my second home for the last 20 years. But my residency permit is not being extended since July 2022. I am very worried. I will be very grateful if you let me stay in this country. Please accept my respects.
After this post, many people requested the Home Minister in the comments of that post on her behalf to let Taslima stay in this country. After that, although she did not directly write anything about getting a clearance, Taslima’s next post indicates the same.
