The chief advisor of Bangladesh is going to Thailand on his first foreign visit
Interim government’s chief adviser Nobel laureate economist Dr. Preparations for Muhammad Yunus’ first foreign visit have begun. He may go to Thailand on September 3 to participate in the BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday, ahead of the visit of the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, recently appointed Ambassador to Thailand, Fayyaz Murshed Kazi, has been sent to Bangkok on an urgent basis. He arrived in Bangkok today.
The BIMSTEC summit will be held in Bangkok on September 2-4. The sixth summit of the seven-nation regional alliance BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Alliance for Multidimensional Technical and Economic Cooperation) is being attended by the top leaders of all the members of the alliance including India.
The officials of the ministry said that the chief adviser. Yunus will leave for Bangkok on September 3 and return on September 5. He will address the BIMSTEC summit on September 4. He may have a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the summit.
