The Chief Justice of Pakistan warned the executive department
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Justice Qazi Faiz Isa has warned that executive branch interference in judicial proceedings will not be tolerated.
He said this in a statement of the Supreme Court on Thursday. Dawn’s news.
It was very conceivable that such a comment or warning could come from the Chief Justice. Because the sitting bench of the High Court raised allegations that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies were interfering in judicial proceedings.
After this complaint by the judges of the High Court, the full bench or all the judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan have met several times on the matter. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also held a meeting with the Chief Justice on Thursday.
A spokesperson of the Supreme Court said that on March 26, the Supreme Court Division received a letter from 6 judges of the Islamabad High Court. The letter was signed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Saman Fafat Imtiaz.
In the letter written to the Supreme Judicial Council, the judges complained that the intelligence agencies were interfering in judicial work. They suggested calling a judicial convention to resolve the matter.
Seeking guidance from the Supreme Judicial Council on what to do in the context of intelligence agencies’ “interference” in court proceedings, the judges wrote — “We are seeking guidance from the Supreme Judicial Council on the duty to report and respond.”
