The National Conference and Congress alliance won 48 seats out of 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. On the other hand BJP got 29. As a result, Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference and Congress alliance won this Union Territory of India by a large margin.

Farooq Abdullah announced the name of Omar Abdullah as the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir after such a victory in the polls. Apart from releasing the innocent people detained in jail, he also announced to free and liberate the media of Kashmir.

Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report on Tuesday.

According to reports, Farooq Abdullah announced in Srinagar on Tuesday that National Conference leader Omar Abdullah will be the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The veteran politician made the announcement after the Congress-NC alliance’s victory in Jammu and Kashmir’s first assembly election in 10 years was clear.

Farooq Abdullah told reporters that after 10 years people gave us their mandate. We pray to Allah that we can meet their expectations. It is not the rule of the police, but the rule of the people. We will try to free innocent people from jail. Media will remain independent. We have to build trust between Hindus and Muslims.

According to Indian media sources, Jammu and Kashmir last voted in 2014 when it had statehood. After the withdrawal of special constitutional status in 2019, there have been no more assembly elections. However, local and Lok Sabha polls were held in the present union territory.

The assembly elections held after 10 years were held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. It has an average voter turnout of over 63 percent. Although the Congress had an alliance with the National Conference, the number of seats won by the Congress shows that the party is still in the role of an ally.

Former chief minister Farooq Abdullah expressed hope after the results of the polls on Tuesday that India’s alliance partners would help NC in its fight to restore statehood and statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The valley has now become a Union Territory after the cancellation of Kashmir’s special status.

When asked who will be given the top post, the veteran politician announced, “Omar Abdullah Banega Chief Minister” means (Omar Abdullah will be the Chief Minister).

In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference and Congress alliance won 48 seats. BJP got 29. On the other hand, former Chief Minister of the state Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP has done very badly. They got only three seats. Aam Aadmi Party and CPIM won one seat each. Seven independents and one state-based party won one seat.

Omar Abdullah previously held the top post from 2009 to 2015, NDTV reported. He thanked voters for electing NC back to power in the last election and said his party will prove that it is a party worthy of votes.

He told reporters that the full results are yet to come. We will talk about this later. We are grateful to the voters for the way NC won. People have supported us more than we expected. Now we will try to prove that we are worthy of this vote.”

Incidentally, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has been the chairman of the party since 2009. Omar Abdullah became the youngest Chief Minister of Kashmir after coming to power in 2009 in an alliance with the Congress. Later, he was the leader of the opposition party for a long time.

This time, the Congress entered the field of electoral struggle in alliance with the National Conference, one of the political parties there. On the other hand, BJP and PDP contested the elections separately. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah campaigned with full force.

On the other hand, the opposition India Alliance campaigned in the state with Rahul Gandhi in front.
