Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been nominated by his party Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to contest for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University, UK. It is said that Imran will fight for the post of chancellor from prison. However, the Guardian, one of the media outlets in the United Kingdom, raised questions about his participation in this election.

The Guardian reported that Imran Khan is Taliban friendly and ineligible for election. According to the report, former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was close to Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has submitted his nomination to become Chancellor of Oxford University even in prison. About which he says, ‘I am committed to return resilience, determination to the world. And honesty is what life has taught me, even when the odds are stacked against me I am ready to fight.’

Meanwhile, university sources confirmed that their office had received several emails in the past expressing concern about Imran’s support for the Taliban and corruption cases.

In a column published on Sunday, columnist Catherine Bennett wrote, ousted Prime Minister Imran once called Osama bin Laden a ‘martyr’ and refused to call him a terrorist.

He questioned what kind of impact a person like the PTI founder would have on academic careers in the UK. Imran Khan also questioned Khan’s belief in rape. He claimed that Imran said in this regard that women should stop showing ‘temptation’ because not everyone has that willpower. If you put yourself in a position to be raped, you must take some responsibility.’

Bennett also wrote in his column, “The appointment is for a decade. Khan is serving a 14-year sentence. Oxford’s job involves administrative duties, presiding over a number of key events. Involves formal dress, performance and speech. The Chancellor must be easily accessible and available throughout the year.
