The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet received an application to return Sheikh Hasina

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taufiq Hasan said that no application has been received from the relevant authorities (Ministry of Home Affairs or Law) regarding the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who is staying in India.

He informed this information on Sunday evening. On this day, he briefed the journalists about the meeting of Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma with the Foreign Secretary.

A journalist asked about the discussion about Sheikh Hasina in the meeting of the Foreign Secretary with the Indian High Commissioner. In response, the spokesperson said that there was no discussion on this issue in today’s meeting. Because it is a work in progress. If there is a request from the concerned authorities to the Ministry of External Affairs, then maybe we will take further action in this regard. It hasn’t arrived yet.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Indian High Commissioner told the media that there was no specific discussion on the Sheikh Hasina issue in their meeting.

When asked about the discussion in the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner said that it was a regular meeting. We discussed the security and development of the two countries. We have a positive relationship. We believe that our relationship will contribute to the welfare of the people of both countries.

He also said that India is dependent on Bangladesh and Bangladesh is dependent on India. The relationship of interdependence needs to be taken further.
