The road in Islamabad is named Iran Avenue

The government of the country has named the 11th avenue of Islamabad as ‘Iran Avenue’ after welcoming the President of Iran on his visit to Pakistan.

Pakistani media The Nation reported in a report that this move by the government will further strengthen Iran-Pakistan relations. According to The Nation, this is not the first time that Tehran has a highway named after Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, rather than a country or person.

The Nation reports that Iran-Pakistan ties are ‘deep’. Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan. Similarly, Pakistan was the first country to recognize the Iranian revolution. The national anthem of Pakistan is in Iranian Persian. Allama Iqbal of Pakistan is famous as ‘Iqbal Lahori’ in Iran and most of his poems are written in Persian language.

Both Pakistan and Iran are spread across 909 km which separates Balochistan from both sides. The people living on both sides are Baloch and have a common heritage. Cross-border trade and marriage are common here. Many Iranian products are imported into Pakistan. Similarly, Pakistani rice, mangoes and oranges are also quite popular with Iranians. Iranian products are also brought into Pakistan and the people of the border areas take advantage of these products for livelihood.

Border issues between the two countries often make news, which are resolved amicably. Both countries have been claiming that the other country has terrorist organizations in their territories. It is to be noted that in January this year, Iran carried out airstrikes on Pakistan’s Jaish Al Adal stronghold. In response, Pakistan also struck BLA targets inside Iranian territory within 2 days. However, after that there were no more problems with mutual relations between the two countries and both sides have been helping each other to solve the problem.

According to diplomats, the Iranian president’s visit to Pakistan could be a big example in resolving the crisis between the two neighboring countries.
