The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a security alert for US citizens staying in Bangladesh in the ongoing situation surrounding the quota reform movement.

In the warning issued by the embassy on Sunday, it is also said that US citizens should take precautions in the current situation. Citizens are also asked to consider returning to the United States.

US citizens should exercise caution around any protests and large gatherings, the statement said. Review personal security plans. Be aware of the situation around you, including local events, and monitor the local media to stay informed about what’s happening. In this situation, if citizens want to contact their family members, they are asked to contact them through phone, SMS and internet services.

It also said that international and domestic flights are normal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. However, passengers must carry the ticket or e-ticket (printed, digital or SMS copy) which will serve as curfew pass.

According to the warning, the US Embassy in Dhaka will start providing regular consular services on a limited basis from July 29.
