There are no words to describe the devastation: Bangladesh PM

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that those who have destroyed the structures built in the last 15 years with the aim of making Bangladesh a developed and prosperous country must be resisted. The people of the country must prosecute the criminals involved in the nationwide riots capitalizing on the quota reform movement. I want justice from the people. I have no words to describe this devastation.
He said these things to the journalists after inspecting the massive destruction of Mirpur-10 metro station in the capital on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said that there were many obstacles during the construction of Metrorail. Overcoming all hurdles, we have completed the Metrorail much ahead of schedule. Metrorail closed today. Because, the system of this station is completely digital and electronic. I don’t know how long it will take.

He also said that the government made metro rail to reduce the suffering of the capital’s residents, to save time and money. To make communication easier. The people of Dhaka will suffer as the metro rail is damaged. Have to be stuck in traffic jam for hours again. Those who have put the people in the midst of that suffering must be stood up against. The countrymen have to judge it.

Sheikh Hasina said that this Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country today. The world stands tall in court. Visible development projects of the country have been destroyed. The structures that made life easier for people have been selectively destroyed. What is the mentality of those who are involved in these anti-development activities?

The Chief Minister said that everything, including the services of Metrorail and stations, is of international standard. Compared to other countries, the metro rail was modern and beautiful. Even seeing the devastation, one does not want to believe that the people of this country could do this. But that was done. Do I ride this metrorail? It is for the people. So why so much anger on it? Today everyone involved in the construction of this metro rail has tears in their eyes.

The Prime Minister also said that in 2018, when the students protested against the quota, I immediately accepted it and canceled the quota. A case was filed against this by the freedom fighter family. The circular issued by the government was canceled by the High Court. The government appealed against it. At that time, the Supreme Court gave time to listen to everyone’s statements and give a decision by upholding the High Court’s verdict. After that I told the countrymen including the agitators to be patient. The government has appealed, they need not despair. And taking advantage of the patience of the agitators, the saboteurs started destructive activities from July 17.

Awami League president said, people of this country were deprived for 29 years after 1975. Awami League came and gave people a better life. By building various infrastructures including food security, electricity, medical care, roads and bridges, we have brought a great change in people’s lifestyle in the last 15 years. I am working to improve the quality of life of the people of the country, which no one can deny. What was the condition of Bangladesh until 2008? And today Bangladesh has gone one step higher in development. Why do we have to take it down from there?

Sheikh Hasina said, I have worked tirelessly day and night so that the metro rail should be completed on time. Made it till Motijheel-Kamalapur railway station so that people can move more smoothly. How happy the people of the country were. The people of this country will have to judge those who vandalized this metro rail and ruined the people’s happiness. I look forward to that trial. I can’t find the words to condemn it.
