Trinamool MLA resigns over RG tax issue, Mamata faces pressure
West Bengal is in uproar over the murder and rape of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital and demanding punishment for the perpetrators. The spontaneous participation of the general public in this nearly month-long movement is worth noting. And the ruling party Trinamool Congress sees this movement as a conspiracy of the opposition.
This time, Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress MP Johar Sarkar has announced to resign from the Rajya Sabha on the demand of justice. The veteran politician became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2021 on a Trinamool Congress ticket.
He has also written a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this regard. Where this parliament of the ruling party criticized the state government.
Indian media Anandabazar reported on Sunday that this is the first time that a member of Parliament of the ruling Trinamool has decided to resign. Not only that, but Zahar has decided to withdraw from politics.
In the letter sent to Mamata, Zahar Sarkar wrote, ‘I have patiently seen everyone’s reaction against the RG Kar Hospital incident for the last one month. I thought, why don’t you jump in and talk directly to the junior doctors like that old Mamata Banerjee. Now the government is taking all the punitive steps, it is too late.
He also wrote, ‘I believe that the people who came to the movement are protesting apolitical and spontaneous. Therefore, it will not be right to prevent the movement by using political name. They are not politics but only demanding justice and punishment.
Corruption allegations against Trinamool Congress are increasing day by day. The opposition alleges that despite knowing everything, Mamata is not facing the law of the main criminals. This allegation is getting stronger with the resignation of Johar Sarkar.
Jahar Sarkar also wrote in the letter, ‘Honorable Madam, believe that the spontaneous agitation and expression of anger of the common people of the state that we are all seeing at the moment, the main reason for this is the expansion of the muscle power of some favored bureaucrats and corrupt people. In all my years of life, I have never seen such anger and complete distrust of the government.’
