Two schoolmates got the responsibility of army and navy chief

For the first time in India’s military history, two school mates are heading two armies together. One of them is Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi and the other is Army Chief Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi. Together they studied at Rewa Sainik School in Madhya Pradesh.

NDTV reported this information in a report on Sunday (June 30).

In the early 1970s, they studied together from class V-A of that school. The roll numbers of these two officers were also close. Lt. Gen. Dwivedi’s roll number was 931 and Admiral Tripathi’s was 938. From the first day of school, friendship developed between them. Their bond is still strong.

Interestingly, they were appointed in both forces at the same time. Even though the two were in two armies, they were always in touch.

A defense official familiar with the two officers said strong camaraderie between senior leaders in the military is of great importance. This relationship is very useful in improving the relationship between the forces.

Defense Ministry Spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said in a tweet that two outstanding students of Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa Sainik School will lead their respective forces after 50 years. This school therefore deserves a rare honor.
