Unconventional Exchange: Rahul Gandhi Receives ‘Modi-Modi’ Cheers and Potatoes from BJP Supporters in MP
In a surprising turn of events during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Shajapur city, Madhya Pradesh, BJP supporters greeted the Congress leader with chants of “Modi-Modi” as his convoy passed through the area. Undeterred, Gandhi halted the procession to engage with the chanting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, who not only cheered but also offered him potatoes. In response, Gandhi blew a kiss, showcasing an unconventional exchange between political rivals.
Later in the evening, addressing a gathering, Gandhi referenced the incident, emphasizing the ease of facing such encounters by opening a “shop of love” in the “market of hatred.” The yatra, entering BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, encountered a group of BJP supporters led by corporator Mukesh Dubey, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi along the way.
During the impromptu interaction, Gandhi paused to exchange greetings and handshakes with the BJP workers, who cheered “Jai Shri Ram.” Despite political differences, the scene depicted a moment of camaraderie, challenging the conventional confrontations witnessed in political rallies.
In a post-interaction interview with PTI, BJP corporator Dubey expressed his welcome to Gandhi and mentioned presenting him with potatoes during the exchange. Gandhi, upon returning to his vehicle, waved and blew a kiss before continuing the yatra, which later proceeded to Ujjain.
Addressing the gathering in Ujjain, Gandhi reflected on the incident, urging the importance of fostering love in the face of hatred. The unconventional encounter serves as a testament to the unpredictability of political dynamics and the potential for human connection despite ideological differences.
