US Sanctions on 3 Indian Companies

The US has imposed sanctions on more than a dozen companies linked to Iran’s military. Among these there are three companies in India. The US Treasury announced the ban on Thursday (April 25) local time.

Indian media NDTV reports that three Indian companies have been banned for having illegal trade with Iran’s military and supplying drones.

The US Treasury Department said the sanctioned companies helped covertly sell drones that Russia received from Iran in the Ukraine war. The Iranian company Sahara Thunder has supported this commercial work of Iran from the front. Three Indian companies were banned for their involvement.

These companies are Jane Shipping, Port India Private Limited and Sea Art Ship Management (OPC) Private Limited.

Sahara Thunder sells and ships Iranian products to several countries, including China, Russia, on behalf of the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.

Earlier this month, Israel attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria. Several top Iranian military officers were killed in the attack. In response to that attack, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired 300 drones and missiles at Israel on the night of April 13.

After that, the United States imposed the first round of sanctions on Iran. The ban was announced on April 19 targeting individuals and companies involved in the country’s drone technology and production.

According to a statement from the US Treasury, 16 individuals and two organizations related to the production of UAVs or drones in Iran, which were used in the attack on Israel on April 13, have been targeted.
