Use of red carpet banned in Pakistan due to financial crisis

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the concerned authorities to ban the use of red carpet in government functions in Pakistan. He expressed his displeasure over the use of red carpet during the arrival of ministers and senior officials at government functions. News of Sama TV

According to the sources of the Cabinet Department, the ban on the use of red carpet has been imposed in light of the directives of the Prime Minister. According to the statement, red carpet will be used only at diplomatic receptions in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and members of the federal cabinet on Wednesday decided to voluntarily give up their salaries and perks as part of the government’s efforts to cut costs. Last month, Prime Minister Shahbaz said that spending cuts will be the government’s top priority.

Earlier, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari decided not to take salary due to Pakistan’s economic challenges, according to a report by Pakistani media ARY News.
