Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called a special session of the National Assembly to discuss Pakistan’s foreign policy in the light of the recent resolution of the US House of Representatives.

“We cannot give anyone the right to interfere in our internal affairs,” he asserted. Pakistan has considered the US resolution and will surely respond to it.

Ishaq Dar said these things in the National Assembly of the country on Thursday.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has already responded effectively to the US proposal and Ishaq Dar echoed this sentiment after reading the Foreign Office’s response.

He also announced that Pakistan will bring a resolution in a day or two in response to the proposal of the US House of Representatives.

“The draft resolution is ready and we have noted the US resolution,” he confirmed. We will certainly respond to it.’

Speaking on the issue in the National Assembly, Ishaq Dar proposed a special session on his country’s foreign policy, where the government of Pakistan would explain its policy.

He highlighted the clarity and strength of Pakistan’s foreign policy and said, “If you see the Prime Minister’s speech, he has a clear foreign policy.”

Calling the proposal to hold a special session on foreign policy reasonable, Ishaq Dar said the government has been requested to explain its position and actions. The government has already responded to the US resolution, which was released late on Tuesday.

Referring to ‘Pakistan as the second largest parliamentary democracy in the world’, he said, we will respond immediately.

Dar indicated that a meeting should be called after the current budget session to discuss foreign policy. He said, “The National Assembly is currently passing the budget. Once this is done, we will be able to focus on discussing foreign policy.

Ishaq Dar sees US sanctions on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project as a major problem. He excitedly said that a briefing should be given by the Parliamentary Committee on Petroleum Ministry regarding this project. Because we all have to unite and take Pakistan forward.

Talking about Afghanistan, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Pakistan wants a strong and stable neighbour. Afghanistan agrees with us in this regard. Because our religious, political, cultural and traditional ties with Kabul are unlike any other country.

A meeting on Afghanistan is going to be held in Doha in a few weeks. In this regard, Dar said, the Prime Minister has given approval and Pakistan will fully participate in the meeting.
