When Bangladesh is hit by Cyclone Remal?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal may develop into a cyclonic storm tomorrow (May 25). Cyclone Remal is likely to hit the coastal areas of Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal on the evening of May 26 (Sunday). At that time, the wind speed of the cyclone will be 100 to 120 km per hour.

Hindustan Times reported that the India Meteorological Department reported this information in its latest bulletin on Thursday.

The low pressure over southeast and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has moved northeastward and is located over south and west-central Bay of Bengal on Thursday morning, the agency said. It may turn into a cyclonic storm tomorrow on May 25.

Although the Indian Meteorological Department has said that it will hit the coast of West Bengal and Bangladesh – various meteorological websites specify that it may go to the coast of Odisha, India or Bangladesh.

Weather forecasting agencies ECAI and NCEP have indicated that Cyclone Remal will hit Odisha coast.

On the other hand, IMD, NCUM and IMD MME say that the cyclone will intensify and hit the Bangladesh coast.

And the cyclone may start hitting between 5:30 PM on May 26 and 2:30 PM on May 27.

‘Remal’ is an Arabic word. Which Bengali means sand. The name is given by Oman. The names of the cyclones that will form in the Bay of Bengal are fixed in advance.

In 2020, India Meteorological Department named 169 cyclones. The name of this cyclone will be taken from there. No cyclone has been officially declared so far. When this announcement comes, this low pressure in the Bay of Bengal will be called Cyclone Remal.
