Where did the drone-rocket used in the Manipur attack come from?
The situation in the Indian state of Manipur has become heated once again due to the terrible violent conflict. Kuki rebels, a local armed group, have attacked using drones and rockets in the conflict. The local administration was shocked to see the use of rocket-drone in the attack. They were looking for how the kookies got these weapons. Besides, efforts were started to find the places from where the attacks were launched.
In a report on Monday (September 9), the Indian media News-18 reported that the detectives investigated and found some places near the Myanmar border. They think there is a rebel base there. There is also a weapons manufacturing factory. And they are making weapons in that factory.
A senior official of the Manipur government told News-18, “In the preliminary investigation, explosives like ammonium and gelignite were found in these weapons. However, the presence of any high explosives has not been found so far. Since the investigation is still going on, the possibility of a high-level explosion is not being ruled out.
Apart from this, Manipur police recovered some weapons during raids. Which have a longer firing range than other common weapons.
Gunfire broke out between Kuki rebels and the Metei community last Saturday morning. At that time a person was killed in his sleep.
Educational institutions have been closed in certain parts of the state due to renewed violence. Besides, private institutions are also closed.
An indefinite state of emergency was imposed in Jiribam division of Manipur to control the situation. It has been ordered not to gather more than five people at a time.
