KATUNAYAKE (Daily Mirror) – Eleven Sri Lankans, hailing from two families, who were stranded in the Gaza Strip, returned to Sri Lanka early this morning.

Earlier, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities and the Sri Lankan Representative in Ramallah facilitated the entry into Egypt of the 11 Sri Lankan nationals who were stranded in the Gaza Strip, through the Rafah border crossing, which is 320 kms away from Cairo.

A team of officials from the Embassy received them at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border and made arrangements to provide transport to Cairo to facilitate their return to Sri Lanka.
