17 organised criminals brought back to Sri Lanka this year: IGP

Colombo, Sept. 3 (Daily Mirror) – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya revealed that seventeen organised criminals including the recently arrested five underworld figures in Indonesia, have been brought back to Sri Lanka so far during this year.

Speaking at the 159th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police, he said police has taken into custody a haul of 1,416 kilos of ICE, 946 kilos of heroin and 12,803 kilos of cannabis so far this year.

He said 1,612 illegal weapons including T-56 rifles and pistols have been taken intio police custody so far this year.
