Five Nepalese nationals were killed in a horrific road accident on their way back from the Mahakumbh Mela held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. Four more were seriously injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The accident took place on the four-lane road of Madhubani bypass in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Saturday night. According to eyewitnesses and police, the jeep lost control while passing motorcycle stuntmen, hit the road divider and overturned five times.

According to Indian media reports, the vehicle was carrying nine Nepalese nationals from Prayagraj to Nepal. Five died on the spot after the accident, while the rest were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to Sri Krishna Memorial Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that the accident was so terrible that the vehicle was completely twisted. The window glass was shattered into pieces and a wheel got stuck inside the vehicle.

A police official said the impact of the accident was made more severe because the car’s airbags did not deploy in time.

Efforts are underway to identify the deceased and injured and contact their families through the relevant authorities in Nepal.
