60 people lost their lives in flash floods in Afghanistan

At least 60 people have died in floods caused by heavy rains in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province. In addition, the country’s government said that more than a hundred people were injured in the flood.

The British media BBC reported in a report that severe floods have occurred in five districts of Afghanistan’s Baghlan province due to continuous heavy rains. At least 60 people have died and many are missing. However, the death toll is expected to increase.

The country has been experiencing continuous heavy rains for several weeks. In addition to about 2000 houses, mosques and schools have been badly damaged. The houses and houses of the province are drowning in the terrible flood water. At least more than two hundred people are trapped in water. At least a hundred people are reported to have died in the floods since mid-April.

A spokesman for the country’s interior ministry, Abdul Mateen, told Reuters that helicopters had been sent to help flood victims in Baghlan province. However, due to lack of sufficient light in the darkness of the night, the work could not be done properly.

Local official Hedayatullah Hamdard told AFP news agency that some of the displaced families have been given essential tents, blankets and food to help the victims. Army and rescue workers are also keeping an eye on whether anyone is trapped.

Highways in Kabul and northern Afghanistan are closed due to severe flooding.
