Kabul: After the news of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, the Islamic Emirate strongly condemned his death and called on the world to take steps to stop Israel’s crimes.
The Islamic Emirate described the death of the head of Hamas’ political bureau as a great loss for the Islamic Ummah.
The Islamic Emirate stressed that influential parties, especially the Islamic and Arab countries, should make every effort to prevent aggression and terror in the region.
Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews: “The Islamic Emirate considers the sacred defense of Hamas’ movement from the land of Palestine as an Islamic and human duty, and strongly condemns the bombing, terror creation, and genocide of Muslims by the Zionist and occupying regime. The Islamic Emirate considers the martyrdom of this great mujahid as a great loss for the Islamic Ummah and the jihadist convoy.”
Meanwhile, a number of countries including Iran, Turkey, Russia, Yemen, and Lebanon have called the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh an unacceptable crime.
Hamas confirmed Ismail Haniyeh’s death in a statement.
Anas Haniyeh, Ismail Haniyeh’s daughter-in-law, said in a video message: “We mourn my father-in-law, my father, my crown, and the light of my eyes, Abu al-Abed Haniyeh. He joined the convoy of mujahideen, the truthful, his children, and the gathering of pure blood. The martyr hero and great and honorable commander, we utter nothing but what pleases Allah, but our eyes weep and our hearts are grieved in your separation.”
Part of Hamas’ statement reads: “The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns the sons of our great nation Palestine, the Arab and Islamic nation, and all the free people of the world. The brother, martyr leader, mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the movement, passed away after participating in the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president as a result of the treacherous Israeli attack on his residence in Tehran.”
Lin Jian, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said regarding the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh: “We firmly oppose and condemn this assassination. We are deeply concerned that this event may lead to escalation and chaos in the region. China has always supported resolving regional conflicts through dialogue.”
The US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said: “I don’t have anything for you on that. We certainly heard the report; but, I do not have any further information to provide.”
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, was attacked after he went to the capital of Iran yesterday (Tuesday) to attend the inauguration ceremony of Masoud Pezeshkian, the ninth president of Iran.
Ismail Haniyeh died on Wednesday morning as a result of a missile hitting his residence in Tehran. According to Iranian media outlet reports, one of Ismail Haniyeh’s guards also died in this attack.
