This time in India there is a massive surveillance on social media

After the gang-rape of a young doctor on duty at the RG Kar Medical College Hospital in neighboring India, the whole of India is in an uproar over the murder. People of various professions are protesting across the country, including West Bengal, demanding the punishment of the culprits in this incident. This protest has now gradually turned into a mass movement.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee marched in Kolkata on Friday demanding the hanging of those involved in the brutal incident. Again, the BJP marched to demand the resignation of the Chief Minister in that incident.

Earlier on Wednesday and Thursday midnight, millions of men and women occupied the streets of Kolkata to demand the safety of women.

This protest is not only in the field but also on social media. But there has been discomfort with police surveillance on social media. Kolkata Police is keeping a strict watch on what is being written on social media.
How and why is the police monitoring?

The police have been asked to send notices to the posts regarding the rape and murder of the doctor of RG Kar Medical College, which are objectionable, and to delete the posts. Some are also calling the police headquarters.

Those already summoned by the police include a Trinamool Congress MP, a renowned doctor and a government health officer.

A local Indian newspaper quoted police sources as saying that around 200 such social media users have been served with notices.

This kind of police surveillance on social media in the wake of an incident has never been seen before.

Longtime Trinamool Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has always been aware of the incident. Renowned surgeon Kunal Sarkar made a YouTube video about the rape and murder. Both of them were called by the police.

On the other hand, the Kolkata and West Bengal police have repeatedly posted on social media themselves calling out that many rumors and fake or false information are being spread about the RG tax incident. Citizens are asked to refrain from sharing or posting such information on social media.

At the same time, the family members of the rape victim and the murdered doctor also requested not to spread rumors and false information on social media.
However, this kind of police surveillance on social media has never been seen before, and one after the other, there are incredible protests about the rape and murder of RG Kar.

Meanwhile, protests are still going on across West Bengal. Students of various schools and colleges are taking out protest marches in Kolkata and Mofswal cities.

It is known that there will be various protest marches and gatherings across the city on Monday. Besides, the protest is also outside the state. Junior and resident doctors are on strike across the country.
